Job Brief

Our group is looking for proactive, dynamic & highly motivated professionals as Head of Fish Culture & Hatchery with relevant experience & knowledge in Hatchery & Aquaculture Planning & Operations.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee all activities related to fish culture, fisheries resource management, facility maintenance, and upgrades.

• Prepare and execute annual production budget for hatchery and fish farming operations and present quarterly budget assessment.

• Work with the Chief Operating Officer to produce capital and operating budgets.

• Plan and execute breeding programs and harvesting schedules to obtain maximum efficiency in adherence to the

• environmental standards

• Ensure that systems are implemented and maintained to improve fish performance whilst minimizing risks associated with selective breeding.

• Develop and maintain proper fish rearing standards, systems, techniques and procedures.

• Identify environmental requirements of a particular species, and prepare sites for species cultivation.

• Confer with biologists, fish pathologists, and other fishery personnel to obtain data concerning fish habits, diseases, food, and environmental requirements.

• Collect and record growth, production, and environmental data.

• Conduct the selection and maintenance of brood stock.

• Monitor environments to ensure maintenance of optimum conditions for aquatic life.

• Devise and participate in activities to improve fish hatching, growth rates, and to prevent disease in hatcheries.

• Direct and monitor trapping and spawning of fish, egg incubation, and fry rearing, applying knowledge of management and fish culturing techniques.

• Prepare and execute demand planning for production inputs, equipment, tools, feeds, and medicine while ensuring established inventory levels.

• Determine how to allocate resources, and how to respond to unanticipated problems such as insect infestation, drought, and fire.

• Operate and maintain cultivating and harvesting equipment and ensure all equipment is up to date and well maintained.

• Conduct and supervise stock examinations in order to identify diseases or parasites.

• Supervise and train aquaculture and fish hatchery support workers.

Additional Requirements

• Age at most 45 years.

• To be selected for this role you will have a minimum of 5 years of fin-fish culture, hatchery & farming sector with 3 years of people management experience.

• Detailed understanding of fish husbandry.

• Practical experience in broodstock and breeding production management.

• Strong leadership and strategic planning ability.

• Time bound & ability to work under pressure.

• Good team player, well-organized, initiative, and detail-oriented.

• Good intellectual and analytical skills.

• Problem Solving and Decision-Making Capabilities.
